NIO's 500,000th and the First Hefei-Made EDS Rolls Off the Line

On July 29, NIO held a ceremony at NeoPark celebrating the production completion of its 500,000th EDS which is also the first EDS made in Hefei. This important moment was jointly witnessed by officials from Hefei Economic and Technological Development Area, NIO's relevant departments and partners.

Looking back at the manufacturing of NIO's 500,000 units of EDS, it took two years for the first 100,000 units, eight months and seven months for the second and third 100,000 units to roll off the line respectively. In March 2022, as the 400,000th EDS came off the production line, NIO shortened the time to five months. Today, NIO has set another industry record as the fifth 100,000 units were completed in only four months. These 500,000 EDS embodies the wisdom and efforts of all hard-working NIO employees, and strong support from all NIO partners. Living up to the trust of all NIO users, NIO aims to continuously create a joyful driving and riding experience for them.

The E1 factory, with a total planned annual capacity of 1.3 million units, kicked off piling on April 29, 2021 and topped off in the same year on October 25. Adopting flexible design, the first production line of it accommodates the production of both PM motors and induction motors with a capacity of 300,000 units. Today, the first EDS rolling off the line successfully at E1 provides strong support for the launch of the subsequent new models. The brand-new power design and highly intelligent production line will serve as a source of high-efficiency and high-quality dynamic performance.

William LI also extended their gratitude to partner representatives attending the ceremony. He said that EDS is the "heart" of smart EV, so NIO has been committed to offering products of higher performance, quality and safety standards.
