NIO Wins the First Prize of China Metallurgical Science and Technology Award

NIO received another recognition with the first prize of the China Metallurgical Science and Technology Award for its project on innovation and development of the applied technology of premium silicon steels for new energy vehicles. Jointly developed by NIO and Baosteel, as well as several other companies, the project is one of the fruitful results since the two parties signed the strategic partnership agreement on developing and applying new materials in January 2022. The project is one of the achievements of the two parties’ collaboration in developing and applying new materials as they took the lead to use silicon steel on a large scale in the electric drive systems of premium smart EVs. Due to pandemic issues, NIO did not received the certificate, which was originally awarded in August 2022, until recently.

The China Metallurgical Science and Technology Award is an award set up by the China Iron and Steel Association and Chinese Society for Metals. As the most prestigious award in the metallurgical industry in China, the Award has been keeping high standards and strict requirements to selection – for more than 10 years, the win ratio has been lower than 40% with no higher than 8% for first prizes. Only projects that are technologically innovative and challenging, globally advanced in major technological and economical levels, and with significant contributions to social, economic and technological development will receive the award.
